When the Pioneer Playtest opens

The official event name is Pioneer Playtest, and its announced opening is October 7 at 10 AM EDT. The published test period ends on October 18, 2026, but the reviewed announcement does not specify a closing time: 待确认. This is a limited testing event ahead of the separate Summer 2027 Early Access window.

The March of Giants playtest is therefore upcoming at this article’s October 5 review date. Steam still describes the main game as Coming soon and not yet generally available. An invitation to the Pioneer event provides test access rather than establishing a full-release date or continuous availability after the event.

02

Request access through Steam

Open the official Steam store page and find the March of Giants Playtest section. Select Request Access, then wait for Steam to notify you that access has been granted. After approval, download March of Giants directly from your Steam Library.

Sending the request is not the same as receiving an invitation, and the official instructions give no guaranteed approval time. The developers intend to keep invitations open throughout the event while using it to refine server capacity. They also warn that invitations may be paused or held while server infrastructure is scaled, so a submitted request does not promise immediate entry.

03

Prepare the required Ubisoft account

The current Pioneer instructions require Ubisoft Connect and a Ubisoft Account in addition to Steam access. You can sign in or create the Ubisoft account when launching the game. Steam also identifies the Ubisoft Connect launcher as a third-party account requirement and says linking to a Steam account is supported.

These October 2026 requirements are the relevant instructions for this test. Older September 2025 Closed Alpha material used Amazon Games iD, which is historical account information rather than the current Pioneer route. Follow the current Ubisoft requirement instead of substituting an old alpha login instruction.

04

Returning Closed Alpha players

Everyone who participated in the September 2025 Closed Alpha is automatically included in the Pioneer Playtest. Those players do not need to submit another access request. They also will not receive a new Steam access notification when the test starts, so the absence of that new message does not contradict the announced invitation.

Returning players should find March of Giants in their Steam Library when the event opens on October 7 at 10 AM EDT. The official instructions then say to download the game and start playing. A Ubisoft Connect account is still required for returning participants, even though their test invitation carries over.

05

Check countries and supported languages

The event is offered in North America and the supported European countries, with servers available in both regions. The official country list is reproduced below so eligibility is not replaced by an assumption of worldwide access. China is not listed in that announcement, and eligibility outside the published list remains 待确认.

Officially listed countriesCountries
North AmericaCanada, Mexico, USA
European list, first groupAustria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden
European list, remaining entriesAlbania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Liechtenstein, Monaco, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Turkey, Ukraine, Norway

The supported Pioneer languages are English, French, German and Spanish. The Steam language table lists interface, full audio and subtitles for all four, with the Spanish entry identified as Spanish from Spain. Additional languages and server support are planned for later playtests, but those plans do not add confirmed countries or languages to this event.

06

Earn Pioneer Points in completed PvP matches

Completing PvP matches earns Pioneer Points under the announced Pioneer Program. A completed win gives 100 points, and a completed loss gives 50. Reaching 1,000 Pioneer Points grants Pioneer status and unlocks the described test and Early Access rewards.

Leaving before a match finishes does not award points. PvE and Custom Games do not count toward Pioneer progress, even if you spend time playing them. The qualifying activity is a completed PvP match, so the official points table should not be applied to every available game type.

PvP loss5060

07

Understand the three announced rewards

Pandemos is the Giant reward named in the Pioneer announcement and is scheduled to arrive on October 12. The reward description promises a permanent unlock for this playtest, future playtests and Early Access. That scheduled arrival does not establish the total current Giant roster, which remains 待确认 in the reviewed material.

The Pioneer Medal identifies your Pioneer status beside your name in every match. The Early Access Pack is a separate reward that includes exclusive profile customizations when the game enters Early Access. The announcement therefore connects that pack to a later milestone rather than saying it is delivered immediately at the October 7 opening.

08

Unlock the optional 20% point boost

The official program offers the same 20% boost through participating Twitch streams or an official Discord booster code. Both methods provide the same benefit and do not stack. After unlocking it, the boost remains active for the remainder of the Pioneer Playtest, with completed wins awarding 120 points and losses awarding 60.

The Twitch route requires one hour of watching participating March of Giants streams while logged in to Twitch. Your Twitch and Ubisoft accounts must be linked through Ubisoft Connect. Watching unrelated streams or treating the two boost methods as separate cumulative bonuses is not supported by the official instructions.

For the Discord route, join the official server and read the instructions in the #get-pioneer-booster-here channel. The reviewed public material explains how to claim a booster but contains no verified usable code string, so this guide’s public code list is 暂无. Do not replace that missing code with a guessed promotional string or promise an extra benefit for redeeming both methods.

09

PC preparation and content sharing

The minimum PC specification lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, 8 GB RAM and 15 GB available storage. The CPU options are Intel Core i5-11600 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, with NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4 GB or AMD Radeon RX 6400 4 GB graphics. DirectX 12, broadband internet and a persistent connection are also required.

The minimum target is stated as 1080p, 75% render scale, 60 FPS and Low Quality settings. Steam notes that PC specifications can evolve, so that target is not a guarantee for every individual machine. This playtest has no NDA or watermark, and the announcement explicitly allows streaming, recording and sharing gameplay.

Common questions

Before you go

Does requesting Steam access guarantee an invitation?

No. Steam notifies you when access is granted. The developers may pause invitations while adjusting server capacity.

Do Twitch and Discord Pioneer boosts stack?

No. Both methods provide the same 20% boost. Unlocking both does not grant an additional boost.

Do returning September 2025 alpha players need to request access?

No. Those participants are automatically invited, but they will not receive a new Steam access notification at the opening.
